I just ordered it online Monday, hopefully it will be here by the end of the week. Looks like you can change alot of settings with it. Does anyone have one of these? It comes with 8 credits, so you have the posibility to program4 vehicles (most vehicles take 2 credits). Cost $509 with shipping.

I assume it's some type of stereo equipment?

 

it will be some sort of programmer that your plug into your computer under the dash, and you can program all sorts of stuff...

they usually have a few different settings on them that work fairly well...

i haven't tried it on the monte but i did use one on my truck and it worked really well

Sorry about that....I guess I should of gave more info. Yes it is a editor for your vcm/pcm in a gm vehicle and virtual dash. It comes with the software to install on a laptop or desktop and the vehicle interface to connect it to your obd ii port. It suports alot of GM vehicles. It lets you edit over 300 items. why would you want to "edit" something on your car?

 

for horsepower...its not really editing...the programmer has set programs for each engine that it puts in...

usually 3 different levels

basic which is just a little step up that lets you use regular gas still
better which you have to use 91 gas and its a better performance gain that basic

then theirs the best one which you have to use like 94 octane gas but its a huge jump in the hp...i think it changes stuff like shift points and different ratio's and stuff...

not 100% sure..all i know is it worked really well hp wise on my truck

 

How long does it take to do a run through the settings? Like if you wanted to put in high octane to race on the weekend then go back to pump gas for the week?

 

on my truck it was just like a 3-5 min job...very quick...maybe even less than that...

it was a superchips programmer

i would imagine the ones for our monte's do the same thing

 

The HP Tuners programmer is a little bit more complicated than that. As you can see below it is a decent list, but its not all Yes/No questions. It allows you to make changes to fuel maps and various other functions as well.
