Did they ever actually show the email from GM? I got through about 4 pages of the thread but didn't actually see the letter posted. I was curious to see how they worded it. It does make a little more sense with them mentioning the Malibu also, but I'm sure there are a lot of factors that played a part.

Reason I asked the question is because it didn't make logical sense to me - that GM would kill the monte solely to help a car that wouldn't be released for years. You figure even if numbers continued to slide, they still could've got out another 50k units before the Camaro was even released. With the article mentioning the Malibu, perhaps they were just thinking that the would be Monte owners would likely just migrate to one of the 4 door GM offerings in the meantime.

Our Montes look like nothing else on the road, I believe they convey the NASCAR look quite well. So off with their heads, there must be more to do while searching for "filler" articles... I have no problem with the 5th gen. I had a 1998 LS and it had a nice look. It resembled other GM cars in a good way. Nothing weird looking about.
I traded it in for a 2003, with some reservations. The 03 was pleasant and comfortable but I never liked the weird look of it. The 90s produced some odd looking American cars (1997-era Buick Riviera, 1996-era Ford Taurus, 1998-era Dodge Intrepid, etc.). Blobby, saggy, too many curves. I like at least some straight lines on a car.
