you can always get a deal a local walmart its called like Fuel Injection Cleaner. Try that that might help out a bit. I have done that with my old car (mercury) and it seemed to help a bit.

Always check your tire pressure, this can HIGHLY affect your MPG. Also change your air filter, when whose get dirty it ill drain gas. And make sure to keep your oil changed, I heard somewhere that keeping it changed will help MPG's, I guess it couldnt hurt.

Having driven older sunbirds until now (Silver 02 Monte) I have had some experience at trying to getting good gas milage.
I always had better gas milage when I had:
clean oil,
clean air filter,
good tire pressure,
And clean injectors.
Also you may want to inspect the muffler and pipes for holes.
I have noted when my pipes and muffler started to go I would not get proper air flow which also seemed to effect my gas mileage.
Also you might want to check your PCV valve and oxegen sensor.
Other things would be spark plugs and cables etc.

Hope this helps
GWN

I drive a 2000 SS with high mileage ... cheap gas station injector cleaner every once in a while seems to gain me about 1 extra mpg.

For reference I get about 26-28 Hwy burning ethonal, lose about 8 or 9 in town.

I get around 24.5 - 26 MPG's in town driving depending on the weight of my foot.

I did a test a while back where I drove the speed limit, tried not to go over 3K RPM's and got 29 MPG.

Wow, that is bad for a 2000-2006!!! What year Monte is it?

You may have the beginnings of a CAT or sensor failure.

I just returned from a 1800 mile round trip NC to NY and averaged 28 mpg running about 10 over the various speed limits. I have the Hypertech programmer set at 87 gas and a drop in K & N filter. I only run Exxon, Mobil, or Amoco because other brands drop my mileage by 3 - 4 mpg. I have the 3.8 with 80k on it.

No kidding? Other stations drop your MPGs? I'll have to try it... I currently use Citgo only...
