Dude, I wish more people with LS4 Monte's would go turbo. When I saw the one Monte SS run an 11.4, and it has the awesome sound of a v8, there's nothing wrong with that

Maybe one day I can afford a new tranny and a turbo. One day... Cause that was one fast monte.

What is a Transmission Shift Kit?

one for the 6th gens non hd, im not sure where to find the one for yours, but i believe thats what it is, you can make the shifts harder and such, i believe its supposed to help prolong your tranny life as long as its not on the hardest setting? not sure on that one completely tho.

All you will need to do is tune the PCM. You can control the shift points and how firm it shifts from there.

What a shift kit does is makes your shifts from gear to gear quicker and firmer. It actually increases tranny life because the clutch packs aren't slipping as much during shifting, which also makes the car slightly faster because it doesn't take as long to shift.

Thats crazy how you can push 8 psi safely on a stock engine and gain 150hp from a direct bolt on kit huh?
Ill tell you, I also wish I was rich

So the shift kit would be a good investment? Especially with how apparently poor these transmissions are? Would they be able to handle more than 300ish hp with the kit?

The stock tranny really isn't that great for the stock hp of an 06-07 SS, a shift kit will only be one of many things that will make the tranny better. However, you can do everything that a shift kit does just simply by tuning the PCM, so I wouldn't bother buying a "shift kit."

If you did buy that turbo kit, you would absolutely need to do something with your tranny. You could take a chance though and see if it'll be okay like I have, but it's extremely risky. My engine has probably 100hp more than your's does and it's lasted about 5-6 months now with the extra hp. So, sometimes you get a good tranny, other times you don't. If I could get traction my tranny probably would've been gone by now, but so far so good.

Do yourself a favor and get a built tranny if you get this kit. It'll save you some headaches and you won't have to worry a whole lot about it.
