I Tore Off That Ugly Front Plate

I Tore Off That Ugly Front Plate
I can't believe GM would design such a beautiful car as the Monte Carlo and then as an after thought stick a license plate holder in the middle of the front bumper. I know it has to go somewhere (in states where required) but there was absolutely no thought about the design when they stuck it there. And then, rather than stick it on with tape they drilled holes making a bigger mess. Yes, Missouri is a 2-plate state. No, I don't display 2 plates on my Corvette and I may pay the price some day but it stays in the trunk for the same reason - aesthetics.
I found an help article about taking the plate off and repairing the holes very cheaply. I opted for that repair rather than filling the holes and repainting the whole bumper. If you're interested in the method I used look here [ click here ]. Before finding that tech article I had already decided on doing it that way. It reassured me that it could be done. It does detract slightly from the smoothness of bumper but I opted for the cheap way out.
Finally I installed an Altec Show n Go license mount that I already had laying around. I put off installing it on the Corvette and it worked very well on the Monte Carlo. They sell for about $45.
Here is the final result.
And enlarged. You can see the buttons used to fill the holes.
