Hey whats up everybody. My question is how fast could you go in a stock Monte Carlo LS or SS with the years being between 2000 and 2005.

 

I've been 135ish so far....

I think it may be possible to see 145 maybe closer to 150. The only way to achieve this is to get rid of the speed and RPM limiter. Now, the question is, at what RPM does the engine tear apart on you.

 

The govenor on my Monte kicked on at about 130 something, I could be wrong but that is what I saw.

 

i think mine topped out at around 135 governed. i have an '02 SS

 

I removed the gov on mine but I am too scared to see it top out. (Bad Tires)

The rev limiter will be your biggest challenge in hitting anything about 140ish...

 

I don't know, I don't think I've gotten mine over 90 yet. Not that it can't go faster than that, I just haven't laid into it yet.

i think that on a stock engine, it will run out of power before the engine actually fails on you...what is the electronic governor set at?

 

i've only taken my 96 Z to 115 but i know of another 96Z with some mild mods that got to 145! he used a DHP to remove the gov.
