Default high idle speed

ive seen a couple post on this but not the same as mine, my 03 ss will go into high idle around 1500 on tach ,then next time I crank it drive normal ! I have no check engine light to check codes. I have seen to check or replace the IAC and the TPS but I don't want to just "throw" money at it til I find the problem. seems strange it does it on way to work then not on way home etc. ?? any ideas?? thanks ! You can try cleaning the IAC ,, very easy....it gets pretty carboned up in there... over time.

yes take it off and clean the end if it only...the pintle its called I believe. I used carb cleaner. take a paper towel and soak it good with the cleaner and use yer finger to poke it in to the throttle body hole and clean where the pintle comes in contact with it... yull know when its clean enuff cuz yu will see a shiny round ring.

the TPS can be tested with an ohm meter. the procedure is on yutube somewhere.
