High Flow Cat/Downpip HELP!

From 3800performance. I have a 2005 Monte and would this high flow still set off my engine light? it has spot of sensor but would still read bad air flow?

for 460 bucks they better install it and wash and wax your car with it.

big ripoff, and also it doesnt tell a whole lot about the material other than "high quality stainless steel" - there is a couple grades of metal to use.

also, doesnt say much about what kind of cat they use, but in the picture looks like it says magnaflow. if that is the case, you dont have to worry about the light. as the magnaflow high flow cat's barely make emissions, but they do.
i have a magnaflow high flow cat on my car that came attached to my 2.5" 304 stainless steel downpipe from zzp. bolted right in no problems, and also had the option of getting the gaskets to seal it properly.

honestly, i would go with the zzp 3" stainless 304 catted downpipe.
they give better information about the material and what comes with it, they give better customer service, and its over $200 cheaper. Im happy with my zzp downpipe.

i just did a price out for you, for the 3" 304 stainless pipe with magnaflow high flow cat with the bolt in option and front and rear gaskets, and it totaled to $254.98

as far as the U-bend, do a search and some pictures should show up in some threads. its a part of our downpipe that was created from GM to increase the longevity of our exhaust systems. it has a big "U" in the pipe to shield the o2 sensor, and that U shape really impacts the power made from the exhaust.
it will give you a seat in the pants difference just from switching the downpipe. no more lag.
if you get the zzp downpipe, you dont need to buy a U-bend delete. the zzp downpipe replaces that and it also includes an o2 sensor plugin.

What's your trim and engine?

if you aren't supercharged a 3" pipe is not necessary.

I've got the Random Technologies 2.5" DP with hi-flo cat. It was around $250, plus maybe $30.00 for an install kit (bolts and gaskets). I had to buy a rear o2 sensor delete kit ($7.00 I think) because the light would come on. I understand that is common with hi flo cats. I also added an SLP cat-back system at the same time. Great system, very noticible power increase and excellent sound. Not too loud but you can definately hear it.

The o2 sensors on the 05 are different, and that delete kit probably won't work.

and even if you are supercharged a 3" pipe still isnt neccessary. its about another 5hp gain, but then you have to think your going from 2.5" to 3" back to 2.5" pipe....that can cause turbulance and rob you of HP gains.

i have a 2.5" and it works great on my supercharged monte. i wanted to keep all my piping the same size.

Yes Supercharged, I belive all 2005 SS were supercharged.

and you say 2.5" Would be just as good? I was thinking same idea to keep all the piping the same..

I didn't see / know you had the SS, so I couldn't assume anyway :)

Any downpipe with High-flo converter has the opportunity to throw the code.

They can claim it won't all they want, but if your car wants to throw the code, it will. However if you have a tuner, or someone that can tune, you can get the code deleted from your PCM and then you will never throw a code, and no one will be the wiser.

and if you are going to be constantly adding mods to a supercharged engine... you should get a tuner anyway so you can monitor and work with your KR

blacksheep is right, i forgot that i had my pcm done at zzp to not throw the p0420 code (emissions).

2.5" will be fine, you might have minor gains with a 3" but not that much. your call on pipe size.

i'd say go with the zzp pipe, cheaper and better. at least you know what your getting.

if you get a zzp pcm you can ask them to tune it not to throw the p0420 code and you'll never throw the light.
