i am looking to replace my 9006 low beams with a set of 35 watt hid's ether 6 or 8k color i was curious has anyone else been able to plug them in with no problems or will i need a relay also with the kit, all info on color or anything else would be appreciated!

 

It's illegal. Yes you need a relay.

I have 35 watt 6000k HID's and I have no relay and they work perfect. Got them from DDMTuning. Have same setup in my fog lights also. No problems at all.

You dont need a relay. And if for some reason yours does I have all of the relays I bought for my car and didnt use yet I would sell for cheap.

 

Im gonna get either 8K or 10K and I DGAF what police say.

 

Lol 8000k looks blue but when you're driving its pretty much a pure white. If I got new ones it would be 10000k. But really look at all of the cars with 12000k, none of them get pulled over. It would take a cop who is really pissed at you for you to get a ticket.

 

Installing HIDs without a relay harness is quite short sighted... even if it is working fine.

As the ballasts and bulbs age, they will draw more current at startup, and eventually may fry your wiring harnesses. I have seen it plenty of times on the Impala/Monte especially since the harness is marginally sized to begin with

For the $10-$12 it costs for the relay harness, it's VERY cheap insurance.

Ive got 8k lows & highs & 10k fogs, all have relay harness, they dont cost much & its just a bit of added protection, had for over a year now with no issues
