Question Hey guys. Help, i need your input.

Hello all, hope your day is going well.
I hope you take the time to read and put you two cents in here, you don't have to be knowledgeable in upholstery for this lol.
Okay here it is: On my driver seat, there is a small opening, where the leather has pulled apart from the airbag, i dont want to say "tear" because its hasn't torn it looks like the sealant has given out and i went to get an estimate from this small local guy who told me today he would have to put a jello like "sealant" and need to have the car for about 6-7 hours, he said he would charge me 50.00, now i know its not something HUGE or mechanical problem. But every time i get in the car i see it there, the opening and it bugs me.
Okay, he said he would use jello like sealant.
Could i just go ahead and use crazy glue or something? and save myself the 45.00 buck? and i don't want to put a seat cover because in an emergency i would like the airbags to deploy without a problem. here is a sample not the actual pic, but whenever i'll get a chance alone i will. thanks guys.

Jose, IMO, $50 bucks seems pretty fair to fix that, and no offense at all, but beings this guys does upholstery for a living, I am guessing you will be happier with the out come if you just pay him the money to fix it.

I think the Crazy Glue would just be a quick fix, that probably will not hold up in the long run. I know I like things in my Monte to be PERFECT all the time, or else it must get fixed, and fixed right. I would pay to have it fixed up.

Good luck!

Once summer hits, your temporary fix will probably get loose.

Pay the moeny and have it fixed right.. .one time we had taht happen to our car and my mom was good at sewing, and the Lincoln we had then ahd cloth seats, so she just sewed it right up and it never had a problem.

But here's hte kicker, would you like to know how that happens?

It happens when you get out of the car, lots of people put their hands on that seat and push against it to get out. Now if you just have a passenger who does that every now and again, it's no biggie, but 4-5 years of a driver doing that makes a litttle spot like you guys are talking about. Don't push on your door either, because you'll wear out your bushing's.

If you must push against something, push against the door jams to get out. Don't push against that seat!

Just wondering what years got the seats with the airbags in the seats. My 2004 Supercharged SS doesn't have them.

It was an option I think in all years. I know in 06-07 it was an option. I have them in my 06, but I think it was like $660 added to sticker price for them.
