Help me understand thermostats..
Im reading here on the forum that stock t-stat for the l67 is 195*..
My engine never goes above 178* unless the air is on.. Fans also dont come on.. Unless air is on..
How can you tell without actually opening the housing and looking? Id like to change to a 180*, but since the car doesnt heat up even that much would it mean thats whats in there already??
OR, does it mean when it gets about 195* and the fans come on, that there is a 195* in there??

Sounds like you do have a 180 stat in there. L67's prefer 195.
Here's a thread from another forum that explains the fan cut-in temps and a bit about how they run better at 195.
The PCM decides when to turn on the fans as it reads the temp from the ECT sensor and if the A/C is on or not.
