Got some mods to the monte
It took 3 days, but I finally got my car back from the shop. While it was there, I got a magnaflow exhaust, 2 high flow cats, throttle body spacer, hypertech programmer, K&N cold air intake and also got my windows tinted. I noticed a big difference in acceleration, and sound. The only downside to getting it all done at once is the fact that I don't know really what made the biggest difference in power.
I know a lot of people aren't big programmer fans.. but there are some plus's that come out of it. First, it changes how you shift. When it shifts, the RPM's go down, and it kind of loses some power. Well with the programmer, when it shifts, the RPM's still continue to go up. Hopefully I'm explaining that well enough?? Also, it tells you the OBD codes (you just have to go through the hassle to figure out what they mean) Plus, it gives you the option of turning off the check engine light. My High Flow Cats set off the check engine light (the guy at the shop told me it might) so I was able to hook up the programmer to read the code to make sure it was just the cats, and then clear the check engine light. That will come in handy when I go in for emissions, because if you're check engine light is on, they will fail you. And lastly, you can plug in the programmer and change everything back to stock. This comes in handy if you have to take it into a GM shop.
Hopefully I can have some pics up in a day or two

Wish U safe/fun/fast miles in your High Performance
Monte Carlo
Good Luck from `Space
Congrats on the upgrades.
I'm curious as to why two cats also?
I'd put money on the fact that any changes you feel are from the higher flowing intake, the higher flow cat, and the changes to the PCM file. The TB spacer and the magnaflow won't affect anything for the most part.
I think that the reason that people are not fans of the handhelp programmers is that for the same price (or less), you can get tuning software (DHP Powrtuner or HPTuners) that gives you the ability to do everything you mentioned that the hypertech can, plus also give you access to 10x more tables on the PCM. Tuning software also gives you complete control over everything where as the handheld programmers only allow you to change a few parameters here and there.
The tuning software packages let you change everything you mentioned, and also let you set the PCM back to the stock tune file.
Oh, and with the tuning software: you could just completely disable the P0420 code so that it will never trip the check engine light again. That way you wouldn't have to clear the code each time, and you wouldn't risk failing emissions if the check engine light tripped while they are testing the car

Sorry it took so long to get back.. was on a short vacation, wife said no laptop lol..
I was really afraid you guys would ask about the 2 high flow cats. The guy at the shop told me I needed 2. I questioned it, even tried looking it up, but he assured me there was 2. I'll see what I can find about it.. and if that's not the case, then I'm thinking I'm going to have some more work done, at their expense. I didn't go with the true dual because the mechanic talked me out of it. He said it would actually rob me of power since the engine wasn't powerful enough (unless I put a supercharger on it)

Life as an EMT... well.. it's a life haha. It's not half bad if you can dodge all the layoff's and put up with all the bs and politics, but, it pays the bills.. most of the time
I'll try and get some pics up early this morning, and I'm planning on taking it to a track this weekend. I did have a chevelle pull up next to me and race... and I beat him
