got my tire carrier
bought some LEDS off flea-bay last week from china only cost $3.26 shipped for ten bulbs. they came in yesterday and i install this morning. the installing wasn't bad just pulling out the guage cluster was. overall it's probably better task than the monte carlo cluster. i was hoping it be blue color to match up with my pioneer radio but it's kinda blue purpleish. it's ebay so you get what you pay deal. now just waiting for the other bulbs from china in the mail for the shifter and 4wd. will order more leds for the hvac and white interior lights too.

i guess i wouldn't say the tire weight exactly 100 lb. but yeah it's heavy. im going to make a video to show easy it is to lift the tire up and down and it's not that heavy like it looks.
i would love to have a swing out carrier, that was my orginal plan but since my bumper is custom build and it's already narrow as is, it's going to be little harder to weld another piece on. it can be done but more work and nobody like the headache. remember this is a home brew put together in your garage not some fancy pantsy tire carrier.
"it's a jeep thing that you never wouldn't understand" "your monte carlo is faster, but my jeep can go any where" LOL... just kidding don't get your panty in a bunch.
jerry if you look on the second pic below the tire on my first post there's a license bracket with 2 bolts on each side, that's where the license plate going to be relocate. i just have to go to auto store and mout LED light to the plate and rewire to the oringinal plate light.

I think for a "HOMEBREW" makeshift thing....would need a swingout style mount.
Youd more than likely want to be able to access that area more readily...with all the extras or eats your gonna load in the back of it anyway.... Hence: Tailgateing! Tent, parts etc etc...whatever your going to need for your trips...
And I do understand jeeps...I was hit by 1 on my harley! Killed my wife of 10 yrs and left me as an above knee amputee!
I also know a thing or 2 about off roading...I have a Silverado Z-71 4x4..
I would have no problem.... Running with that Jeep! lol
the problem with the swing out tire carrier on my jeep is it won't work as easy as the way you saying cuz the bumper need to extend out couple inches to mount the tubing for the swing arm. when the bumper was made it was not plan to add extra add on. i told my guy to make me a nice strong flush rear bumper for off roading. im pretty sure your chevy z71 can run with the jeep at some terrains. i guarantee your z71 will not go through trails like in the pictures i posted. the trails are tight, deep ruts, climb over rocks, and all kind of obsecle in front of you. your z71 is a full size pick up and more for open field mud bogger not tight trails. that's all im saying.
here's some videos of the park we go to. im not with this group but you can see how tight the trail is. notice the first jeep carry is spare tire on top of the roof rack. that gotta be a pain to change tire.

I noticed in the first vid....The jeep that was flipped over....
Didnt have anymore ground clearance that my Z-71 does....
I certainly wouldnt have "flipped" it either
The 2nd vid you posted...
Granted it look like a righteous hill to climb....
However, It would have been a lot easier to accomplish...IF...
He didnt have them almost bald tires on that truck!
Surprised he didnt pop a head gasket .... As hot as he got it struggleing all the way up and down and up and down around up down etc etc etc ....sheeew... I got tired watchn him slip around like a used peice of saran wrap in a mud puddle....hehehheehe....Can you say?
SLIP AND SLIDE?.... thanks for posting....

so after 2 weeks the #194 bulbs for the shifter and 4wd finally come and here how it looks. next is to do the hvac and call it a day. the rest of the switches look to hard to tackle with so i'll leave them alone. also finally had a chance to install grand cherokee zj gas tank skid. my wheelin buddy done most of the install lol. but i did treated him right after the installed. bought him pizza and six pack. there's suppose to be 4 bolts holding the skid but can only put in 2 bolts on each side. the nut strip and skid wasn't line up correctly. with 2 bolts on each side the skid actually hold down pretty secure so im not too worry it coming off.

finally complete all the led instrumental guages and switches. the only switches i didn't put leds are the heated seat and window switches becuz the bulb are built inside and i don't know how to change them out. plus i don't want to gamble and end up ruining them specially the heated seats switch it's real hard to find at the jy. they only came with limited cherokee sport and that's what make it harder. the blue leds remind me of my 04 SS. next i want to replace all the interior dome lights to white leds. here is video i made. click on the pic.
