Why does everyone ask the point in some things?
The point is the same thing as putting an SS on a non-SS, or getting the newer style SS for your car. It's putting a badge on their that says something. When you pop the hood at a car show, and you see a GM Performance badge, you think this car has some ooomph to it.

On a second thought, this reminds me of a 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 I saw. It had the SS emblems from the 7th generation Monte Carlo on it, right above the 1500. That was the only extra it had to it, it looked pretty stupid in my opinion. SS is Super Sport, meant for sport cars, or sport tuned trucks, like the Chevy SSR, not a Silverado.
