Default GM Gripe #557

A week ago while in MI to see my g/f's parents my '06 Monte displayed a message about getting the tire monitor system serviced. I hit the Onstar button and asked they do a diagnostic on the car. To see if there were any serious issues?

Onstar said it was nothing serious but to get the car to a dealer as soon as I could.

I took my car to the dealer today to get it looked at. After waiting 1/2 an hour the srvc guy came in the room and said they had a bullitin on the tire monitor system and replacing them.

It seems this system fries the antenna and you have to replace both key FOBs as well as the tire sensors, the antenna and something else?

My real gripe here is the number of miles I've put on the car driving back and forth, back and forth, back and forth from my house to the dealer ONLY to get told I have to bring the car back.

I bet I've put at least an extra 100 miles on the car just doing this.

RJ, if they're smart (my dealer wasn't) they'd replace the sensor that's not reporting first, and do the re-learn procedure. This (after like 5 trips to the dealer) finally got my car to shut the hell up about servicing the tire monitor, and much less work than replacing the whole flipping thing... Watched him do it in 15 minutes (ofcourse it would have been a full hour labor if I wasn't watching, lol, thank GM for the not-so generous warrant tho). They did replace all that crap ahead of time too, but that all made no difference, except my key fob range like tripled.

BEWARE 9/1/2007!!!!!

THERE IS A GM VIRUS THAT WILL KNOCK OUT YOUR ANTENNA AND YOU WILL NEED TO GET IT SERVICED!!! PLEASE AVOID PARKING YOU 06+ GM'S NEAR OTHER 06+ GM'S TO STOP THE SPREADING OF THE VIRUS!!!

Oh and be sure to forward this to at least 5 other people or your cat will poop on your rug... even if you don't have a cat... and you will have bad luck for 7 years.

One of my sensors pop up everyonce in awhile reading really high (like 90psi) and then after a bit it says to service the Tire Presure System and I had it worked on once under warranty and it worked for awhile, but I'm out of warrenty now and I'm not gonna pay to get it fixed as of right now. Oh, and the tires are all around 30psi all the time, I check them manualy everyonce in awhile just to make sure...

My dad took his '07 300C in yesterday morning to get the tire monitor system worked on.

It took real patience, but the Mopar boys pulled the car through a difficult surgery.

What got the tire monitor system in the car to shut up?

They put air in the tires.

Novel concept to fix that. I would seriously think about another dealership.
