Default Gas and monte Carlo SS

I am looking, again, at a Monte SS(01) does it take premium gas or regular.

Thanks,

Mike

It takes regular gas. that's what I run in my 03 and it performs just fine.

The manual recommends 91 octane for the 06-07 SS with the V8.If it is an older SS (2000-2004) without the supercharger,it calls for 87.If it is a 2004-2005 with the supercharger it calls for 91 octane.

You can run 87 in any of the above, and many members do I am sure. You will see a slight drop in performance and possibly fuel mileage if you use lower than recommended octane. If it is a 2001 you are looking at,87 octane should be fine.

I had a Supercharged 04, and usually ran 91 in it. The odd time on a trip, I would put a tank of 87 in it and didn't notice any real differences. I run 87 in my 07 SS, and it also seems to work just fine. Possibly the performance would be slightly better with 91 Octane, but it's hard enough to hold onto as it is.

I also had a 2001 SS with the standard 200hp V6 and ran 87 all the time.......no problems.

how about running 88 octane in an 07 3.5 Monte?I just bought mine and feel a little higher octane could help, not hurt.
