Gas Mileage
I'm a newbie, just signed up. I have an '04 Supercharged SS. I realize the supercharger is not designed to provide good mileage. In fact, if I could go back in time, I wouldn't have bought the car with it, just the regular SS. Anyway, is there anybody out there who can give me a couple of tips as to how I can boost mileage? I do have a K&N filter installed, and am planning on a hood scoop/cold box set up as well. I was just looking at the "Turbonator" device that is attached inside the air intake hose that swirls the fuel/air mixture into a vortex for better burn. Sounds good. Thoughts, anyone?

Wow. That is the first time I have heard of someone purchasing the Intimidator and not being proud of it because of gas milage or considering it when making a car puchase.
The CAI will help with gas milage as would uncorking the exhaust a little bit. Doing the U-Bend delete is a must to get the best fuel milage and will give you about 5HP increase. Ported Exhaust Manifolds (PEMS) would also help out too.
The supercharged engine isn't anything to be disappointed in. It's kind of like having a V8 on demand in a V6 package.
Also what kind of gas milage are you getting and in what part of the country? I'm in WI and around 80* or so I get 27.7 MPG in hwy/city. In the winter when its around -10 to 10* I only get around 23.5 MPG, but that is with warmup times.

Maybe I was a bit too harsh on my assessment of the car. I bought the '04 with 17,000 original from a Chevy dealer, as well as purchasing the extended factory warrantee on it. With that in mind, does anyone know if installing the straight sleeve on the exhaust or ported exhaust manifolds void the factory warrantee? Forgive my ignorance, but what is a CAI? Is this the kind of ported headers you're talking about? Please click this link to see them:
Thanks, folks

AH, Jeez. Seems no matter what I do, it'll void the warrantee----pretty much what I figured.[&o]
I've got some thinking to do. While I'm doing that, spark plugs seem like a safe bet, any suggestions guys?
Thanks again.

The exhaust mod WILL void the factory warranty. If it's under warranty a K&N filter can even void the warranty. Just depends on how much your dealer cares.

A lot of mods the dealer can't find or won't notice either. If you upgrade your rockers and your waterpump/alternator/etc go out just don't tell them about it. They have no reason to take off your valve covers to fix these. Also with the KN filter... well just keep the original one and drop it in before you bring it to the dealer if your worried about it.
