Gas Milage
Hey Eveyone, this may have been talked about before, but I have not seen a thread about it....
What kind of gas milage do you AVERAGE? Both calculated and what the computer says? Also what is the BEST gas milage you've ever gotten in your Monte?
Please list the year, and engine in your Monte...
My Monte is an 06 LT 3.5L V6...I average 24-25 usually, and my best milage ever was on the way home from Reno once. I got 33.4 MPG. I typically average about 27-28 on long highway road trips with cruise control on 80-90 MPH with the occasional smash to the speed limiter on a pass. The worst milage i ever got on a full tank of gas was 21.8 MPG. My calculated and computer MPG's are usually .3-.5 MPG's within each other, so i'd guess my computer calculated MPG's is accurate, just a slight difference in top off sometimes....

Hmmm i'm guessing 18-20 Average...Maybe on a straight highway road trip keeping your foot out of it, under 80MPH, and using cruise control maybe you could sqeak 25PMG out of it???

2000 Monte Carlo SS: 3.8 Liter 3800 Series II (L36) with 162,5xx miles.
and I still average 28 mpg. I love my MC

We've been averaging 20-22 with mainly driving around town. I'm making the first highway trip tonight at around 140 miles round trip so I'll let you know highway millage once I fill up after it. I found the computer is around 1-1.5 mpg higher and 1 gallon lower on fuel usage,

i've never calculated my mileage. ever since i started getting crappy mileage in my corolla a couple years ago (about 16 mpg) i figured it probably couldn't get much worse unless i got a V8. the computer I believe is somewhere around 19 mpg? i'll have to look at it tonight. it's usually about that though.

WTF, your corolla must have been screwed up....my 89 Chevy Silverado with a 5.7L V8 and 230,000 miles AVERAGES 16 MPG, and has gotten 19 MPG on a highway trip. (and it had over 200K on it at that time too)

Oh and its a Chevy! oh it was super screwed up. it had over 220K miles on it and i had to put a quart of oil in it every 3-4 days. i'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. as soon as someone backed into me on a hill and i got a check from the insurance company, i went right out and bought Tony. i couldn't WAIT to get rid of that corolla!!
ftr, most of the driving i have ever done is city, back and forth to work and whatnot, i haven't done a lot of highway driving in the last couple of years on a regular basis so that made it that much worse. i still <3 my 17 gallon tank though, i only have to fill it like once every 2 weeks!
