Default fuel question

I am currently running premium fuel in my 05 SS. Is it REQUIRED for normal operation, or can I use the 87 stuff? And what happens if I don't use 91?
*it IS Supercharged*

You need to use the highest pump octane gas you can. 91 or 93. Using lower octane fuel causes detonation and causes your PCM to pick up Knock Retard (KR). KR pulls timing from your motor, thus making it less powerful, to allow you to run that lower octane fuel. You also run the chance of cracking a piston - although I've never heard of that with a stock 3.8 pulley, it's still a possibility with enough KR. It's worth the extra $3 per fill up to keep all the pep in your car and to avoid possible problems.

And using those "octane boosters" are a horrible idea right?
I do not use them anyway, just a thought that came up.

Octane booster is trash. Each bottle raises your octane level by like 1/10th of a point. For instance - if you bought 93 octane, it would take 10 bottles of that crap to make 94 octane. You're better off just buying race gas. But, until you run a smaller supercharger pulley, you don't even need race gas.

If you wanted to save money and use regular- should've got a non-sc model.

I have no problem spending a little extra for gas, just had a few questions is all! I went from a 00 ls to this and I LOVE the extra power... so yea I do not mind spending the extra $$

Just a quick correction on the octane points statement. (not that it matters really, and im not trying to be a smart @ss) but, each bottle of booster is equal to one point, and each 10 points is equal to one more octane rating. I just had to clarify this, but youre for sure right on the trash part. I knew a guy who used to dump bottles upon bottles of that crap in his tank at each fillup... DUHHH!
