Found a 1972 Monte Carlo
Why wouldn't you have taken that home already? What are you going to do, just tell the shop owner he can have your grandfathers old Monte? Tell me where it's at, I'll go pick it up for $1000. It's a 1972 Monte Carlo, as it sits you could turn around and get 2k out of it.
If you have the place you'll make time to go and work on it as you get more intrested in the project, even if it takes 3 years and a total rebuild(you can score deals on stuff) i think it would be worth it for you and what your grandfather would have wanted!
I would get it. Especially for a $1,000. I have a 1970 Monte that I've had for almost 25 years and when I had the body redone back in 1992, they had to do some extensive work on the roof and around the back window because of rust caused by the vinyl roof.
If you don't get it, I would not give the guy the title because he should have notified someone when he realized your GF had passed.

Wayne - I couldn't agree more i think my next step is gonna be going back to shop owner with more questions as to why he didn't try very hard to contact us, all our phone numbers have stayed the same and we all live extended family and all with in a 10 mile radius of this shop.
