Feeler: Part out of 5th gen LS
I will probably be purchasing a new car for my wife in the upcoming months, so the MC will be the one to go. I posted in earlier threads about it having a pretty rough exterior, so I don't think I will be able to get anything above $1k for it if I sold it outright, despite it having absolutely zero problems mechanically. However, I am thinking about parting it out so that I can make a few more dollars and help other MC owners out. Just checking here to see if there would be enough interested from MCF members to purchase 5th gen LS parts. Thanks for your input! If/when the time comes to part the car out, I will be making another thread.
I hate to say it, but you're going to be better off selling it whole.
The outside would be the only parts that would be easy to sell if they were straight and in good condition for people repairing wrecked cars. The interior will be hard to sell since its not usually stuff people replace, unless you had some good condition leather seats or something. I suppose some people might pick up a few parts to customize for their cars, but most of the stuff is big and awkward to ship- especially for parts that are super common in junkyards.
The suspension isn't really going to sell because its a base model, and not really an upgrade for anybody- plus I'm sure its all covered in rust like most suspension parts are.
The engine/trans also aren't popular for any kind of swap or anything, and aren't an upgrade for anybody. I tried selling my 3100/4t60 (had like 90k on it) when I did my swap, and I literally couldn't even get somebody to come pick them up for free. You probably could get a little money off them by selling on ebay or craigslist, especially if the mileage is pretty low- but then, you'd probably be better selling it as a whole running car; rather than getting a little for the engine/trans and scrapping the rest of the vehicle.
