Default Downpipe for 3800 on 3500???

Ok I have an 07 lt with a 3500 in it. So far the only performance mods ive made are a custom cai and the magnaflow catback system. I was wondering if a 3800 down pipe would fit on it? and if yes should i go with 2.5" piping or 3"? To some this might sound like a stupid question but the only reason I ask is the catback exhaust systems will inter change for these motors..

Why do you want the 3800 pipe on your car?

If you want to remove the"U" bend pipe the '06/07 Montes came from the factory "U" bend delete.

So you've got what the 3800 guys want already.

Well there is a very slight one.. But thats not the reason. I thought it might add a little hp over the factory one??? Especially since you can buy one with a high flow cat..

Mine looks pretty much straight. Compared to what the 3800s got.

Check a 3800 that hasn't been swapped out yet. More then just a "Slight" bend there.

A high flow cat would be a plus in the performance department.

i was under mine the other day and yes, there is a very slight bend, but nothing that would make a huge difference. i would just leave it alone. also, i wouldn't think a 3800 downpipe would work, cuz it's a totally different engine. just my opinion though.

alabamamonte, how do you like the magnaflow catback exhaust on your 07 so far? how is the sound at idle, mid, and high rpms?

It has its own distinct sound.. It doesn't sound like a four cylnder but it only sounds like a v8 at idle. When you get on it, it starts to make that distinct sound. which it is a v6 so it makes sense. It did give some noticable power gain.

If you have an 07 monte then you need to go ahead and order an 06 monte ltz driver side exhaust hanger. Since the 07 Lts only have one exit exhaust.

Overall though it was worth the money.
