first i have a three car garage which im lucky that my rents let me park my car in there every nite....then at my dads shop we have 5 bay's but they all can fit a tri-axle dump truck in it so we have all the tools to do anything very lucky if u ask me
My barn was built in 1985 by a guy who worked at Mopar for my father. He, his wife, and another couple did all the work.
My parents were tired of the drive being filled with '57 Chevies so they agreed to build a barn to put them in. And my mother was kind of afraid someone would try to "relieve" me of a '57 some night. AS far as I know no one ever tried anything like that. I only had trouble a couple of times. Once an ex-con a girl I was going with stopped over one night and busted the windows in one of my '57s. Some tough guy. He had to do it in the middle of the night.
Another time a group of kids thinking they were some tough street gang wrote all over my cars. It was soap so it came off easily. A girl I was dating at the time and I went looking for them. I found them. They weren't TOO happy when I left. Well........... they were more happy I was leaving then when I stayed. Never had a bit of trouble out of them after that.
In 2004 my dad had a guy he was friends with expand the back side of the barn so he could part his collection of Dodge trucks in there.
If the top of my barn were cleaned of car parts I've collected you could live up there with no problem. I insulated the crap out of the barn in late 1985, early 1986 myself. So it can stay pretty mild out there unless it get's REAL cold outside.

Currently I'm in a 40x60 steel building with 2 heaters working overtime to keep it above freezing and field mice for inslulation. In 6 months I get a 60x200 brick, dry-walled, insulated, 4 bays, one lift, and lights!
I don't think I get the part about using Field Mice as insulation. That must be a whole lot of Field Mice.
I'm guilty of sacrilege in the insulation department. I put Owens Corning Insulation over the panels of the garage doors and covered-up the Pink Fiberglass with sections of a Porsche 911 Turbo Car Cover that a guy left here after getting his Porsche Tuned and forgetting to pay me.
I even returned some of the Parts he expected me to install back to AutoZone for a refund and used the dough to get me some Saddle bags and a nice florescent shop light.
Although it doesn't keep out the whole cold. It does keep in the heat when I'm down in the shop with the Kerosene Heater on.
