Default Did some work to the Monte today

I took my 2002 SS to my uncles garage today and had some stuff done. She has 110,000 miles on her and I wanted to get some maintenance stuff taken care of. We put a new cat converter on because I had the P0420 code. Someone had stuck a very small converter on before I bought it. The new converter was three times the size of the old one. We also changed the brake fluid, transmission fluid, filter, and gasket, and the rear 02 sensor. The transmission fluid wasn't too dirty but the pan had some metal in it. My uncle said it's more metal than he would like to have seen. It kind of has me worried but the car shifts and runs fine. I guess it was the original fluid but I am not sure. It wasn't very dark but it wasn't really pink anymore either. But hopefully she will be good to go for many more miles.

I did the same thing at around the same amount of miles. But I still get the knocking when it is about to shift. I have gotten so used to it that I can time it, and I would let off the accelerater. *spell check* it only does it on and off. I just need to change out my suspension and springs next. A whole new set up, might wanna look into that too. I hear you should change it every 50000 miles...after that will be breaks! I am thinkng slotted rotors.

Yea I wanted to get this stuff done before winter. As you can see I waited until last minute....which is typical for me lol. I think suspension is next on my list as far as maintenance is concerned. I definitely could use it I think. I know I am way overdue.

Good on you for taking care of your Monte! I've been thinking of changing my trans fluid too, not sure it's ever been changed. How hard was it to do yourself?

Pretty easy to do. I have changed mine 3 times between 60k and 110k. Pull pan off, replace filter, stick pan back on, fill with 6-7 qts dexron VI.

Thanks! I believe that if I take care of it that it will take care of me. So far so good lol. It's never let me down. Changing the fluid really isn't too bad. It's pretty much just what aussiek2000 said. Just drop the pan change the filter and fill it back up. The filter on mine was kind of hard to get out tho. It was in there good.

just a suggestion, changing the filter kit is a good idea, but your transmission holds much more than 4 or 5 qts of fluid. look into a transmission flush periodically.
