Default Dash vents blow speraticly

Hello everyone I need a bit of help
I have a 96 monte with 3.1 L and when I turn on the vent air it blows through the floor boards sometimes but no all the time and the blower is making a whining sound when turned on.
The ac compressor is burnt up so i don't expect cold air just plain air flow in general any advice

This could be a bearing that is going out of the Fan motor. I will check my service manuals and see if there is anything about it in there. Sometimes these things get old and wore out, if they are exposed to a dusty or Hi humidity environment.
In the event you are in an area where they have a U-pull it type salvage yard you might be able to find a functional replacement there?

Would it just be better to replace the whole blower motor to save time?

Sure if you can find the part and its reasonable check with Rock Auto.com or if you have a salvage yard nearby that maybe a resource too.
