How does one tell if they have a bona fide Dale Ernhart Signature series car? I was told by a body shop that my parts were so expensive, reason being that it was suppose to be that car. Is it in the VIN number someplace? There is a signature on the rear deck lid, but anyone could have put it there. Anyone know for sure. It's a 2001 SS, can anyone help here?

sig in the headrests, tach, and then there's sill plates too...and you could always just use the vin...there's a lot of people stickering their cars and saying that they're the nascar ones, there's a guy in my town that did that...

Kidding should not take it the wrong way.
Call G.M. help line explain to them that you belive you bought the car as a sig. car and want to know for sure. they only built so many with his sig on the car.
Also on the dash there is a sig where in the rest of the montes it says monte carlo with the sheild on his edition it has his sig. and the number 3 there.

All of the nascar editions also came with a letter or authunticity if it didnt come with your car there are some pepole that can reprint them for you but the dealers will not get you a new one nor will they reprint it for you threw G,M. the last i had heard.

But yes it is in the vin plate and also the dealers can run it to find it out for you to.

 

how do u find out which # of the special edition it is?? like with my car there was 1020 of them made...just wanted to know what # it was of 1020

 

I guess it's not the car I thought it was, because it has none of the above, I guess it's just the SS special edition, what ever that is. The part that cost so much was the bottom poly. rocker cover, (door sill) it listed at almost 3 times the SS stock panel. So someone added that ground effects package.

get a hold of a dealer they can tell you off the vin tag. the vin tag on any car will tell you where in teh run for that year your car was made i belive it is the last 4 or 5 numbers give the placement in teh numbering and also the year of the car. Been way to long for me to remeber lol

But they can tell you witch one you are in the chain of numbers

 

what it sounds like he has is the ss high sport apperance package like ido for instance the grounds effects down the side of a standard ss sel fort about 150.00 if you have the high sport package they run almost 500.00 the front and rear poly bumpers for my car are 1,200.00 each to replaceso if anyoe rear ends me they are in for a surprise and i have the re reciept for the the replacement of one of the side skirts so i know how much they are becasue sears had to replace it cost the to the tune of 892.63 for the replacement and painting of just one of them but that is what i think you have hope it helped

I just have the plain old SS
But i still am thinking of some kind of kit for it just havent figured it out yet.
