Default custom 3.4 intake/brake calipers painted pics.

So i just made a custom intake today for my 3400. I used a mandrel bent 45 degree exhaust pipe. its stainless steel and 2.5 inches, it was left over after my friend had custom exhaust done to his saturn, so i got it for free. Then i used a 20 dollar filter and a 7 dollar coupling from autozone and BAM! new intake and it sounds pretty well for spending under 30 dollars.

I also painted my brake calipers red the same color.

I will have pics posted tomorrow after i get home from school, its too dark now to take any pics.

do you have a heat shield around the cone? if not, you might want to glance around and look into one!

not yet, but im planning on making one. but right not it sits pretty far up, its right behind the headlight, so it gets a little cold air.

If the pipeing is only 2.5 inches it probably is hurting performance more than helping. I had a 3 inch pipe with filter before and then i got a 4 inch pipe and filter and could tell a big difference. you can get pipes off ebay for 12.00-15.00 bucks in 3 or 4 inches which would probably be better.

hmm idk, it seems less restrictive. but yea i wanted to get a larger pipe but all i could get was 2.5 inches and i could barely afford the coupler and filter.

so here are some pics...

thank you. i really like how the calipers turned out, just the only thing i regret is that the paint has sort of an orange tint to it, id rather have it more reddish but it still looks good.

Even if there is a hint of orange, against the black on your car and rims, they'll look fine.

x2

I know money is the overall deciding factor. It does look good. And the brakesturned out nice too.

It seems to me your CAI mods may only be adding a slight increase over the stock airbox. On one hand, the stock airbox is very restrictive with the air coming in.But once through the filter, it's got afairly decent path into the engine. Your set up is allowing more air through the filter, but it hits a bottle neck at the 2.5 inch pipe.

If you're noticing an increase in power, great. But you could definitely benefit from a larger setup. You may want to start a little fund to eventually move up to a larger pipe. When funds allow, maybe upgrade and sell your 2.5" setup.

Good job MonteTank!
