crazy thing to think about

Better/ported heads, ported intake/exhaust manifolds. Maybe headers. Cam. Stroker kit maybe. Do they even make them for the 3800? Lower temp thermostat. Upgraded ignition system. Dyno tuning. Work like that should let you keep up with one.

And prayers would hurt either.
Completely stock, I believe he starts with 100 more horsepower than you do. And the car's weight and size are pretty much exactly the same.
You can check out sites like 3800performance and ZZPerformance to see what they've got for the 3800 engine. You'll most likely have to look under Grand Prix on some sites for 3800 engine upgrades.

There's little things youcan do to help. Like a cold air kit.
Better plugs & plug wires. Is there really any difference in factory versus aftermarket coils for these cars? As far as performance goes.
Keep the airin your tires at the optimal perfomance pressure. Also the tires themselves can help improve performance.
Remove any excess weight in the car. Like things you carry in the trunk.
Keeping the car clean helps. Ask Nascar drivers or any drag racer.
Anyone know if there's a TB upgrade for the 3.8 V6?
They say (and I want to try) the U-bend delete helps free a few ponies in these engines.
You can remove the A/C compressor plus other related parts which reduces weight but is it really worth it?
Just a few things I can think of.
