I believe there were some 1st gen W bodies assembled in the US, but for sure all gen 1.5+ W bodies were assembled in Canada except for the Oldsmobile Intrique (Fairfax, KS).

They were just being dumb.

Exactly. GM uses the same connector no matter what country the car is assembled in. The connector itself was probably made overseas like all the other connectors.
I agree with Mike's earlier post. They're probably trying to plug an OBDII conntector into a 1.5 Sounds like they just want to put the blame on someone other than them. And the fact they don't have the right connector/adapter.

Seems like all the "American" cars - Chevy, Dodge etc are made in Canada, or Mexico. All the Foreign cars - Honda, Toyota are made in Tennessee or Ohio. Very confusing. They do now provide info on the window sticker that gives you a summary of where the parts came from and where they were assembled.
p.s. My Camaro has a 350 ci GM crate engine that is stamped "HECHO EN MEXICO" So sad.
I have a Chevy Lumina, Chevy Monte Carlo, Chevy Camaro, Dodge Caravan, and a Pontiac Trans Am. The Monte, Lumina and Caravan are from the Great White North. The Camaro is powered by Mexico. The 77 TA is the only one that's straight up American - Lordstown, Ohio I believe.
