Default Center Cap Removal...

Like a lot of you, I order the center cap overlays from Grafxwerks. They're in the mail right now. Ideally, I don't want to install them while they're on the car. I don't know, I just think it'd be easier.

I haven't tried it yet because I don't want to scratch anything up but do you guys know of a way to remove the center caps without completely removing the wheel? I'd like to avoid jacking up the car 4 times to remove the wheels. If not, I'll just place them on the car as is, lol.

Thanks for any help!

The only safe way I know is to pop the center cap out from the inside. Maybe if you jack up the car and get underneath to reach the back side of the wheel, you can poke the center cap out that way. A Chevy dealership ruined my 1st set of wheels on my 03 by using a flat head screwdriver to pry them out from the front. As a result, gouging my wheels. I made the dealership replace all 4 wheels!

Yeah, I had a feeling this was the case. Sorry to hear about your dealership experience but it's not surprising at all. They don't give a crap. Good for you for making them replace them though!

You could do it the next time you rotate the tires or work on the brakes/rotors. The wheels will be off the car anyway.

Just a thought.

Use a plunger.

j/k, I would go around back like Amy was saying. Seems to be the safest way.

I actually put them on last night and they turned out great with the wheel on. I didn't realize what a big difference it would make.

I got a set of black reflective with silver outline overlays for my wheels back in 2007. That fifth one went on my steering wheel. I just used a bit of rubbing alcohol for cleaning and stuck them on. Two winters on the wheels (only use them for the winter though) and almost two years on the steering wheel and no problems so far other than the fact that the steering wheel is a little off.

That black bowtie is probably my favorite interior mod so far, looks a million times better than the gold one that didn't match up with anything.
