Can your 3.8L/3.9L beat these cars ?
Hi Member's,Many say that there is no Market for Coupe's ?I know that GM will have the Camaro V-6 Coupe, but I'm hoping that they reconsider a revisedMonte Carlo in our `Future, with the newdirect injection 3.6L V-6 : )[:-]Below are three coupes tested by Motor Trendfor under $30K range. Can a 3.4L,3.8L or 3.9L beat them ?How about a stock SS V-8 ?Would you trade your Monte for one ?[:-]

Two decades ago, one couldn't utter the words "front-wheel drive" and "sport coupe" without generating a few snickers from the auto snobs.
There was some justification for these chuckles. Back then, coupes like the one Honda built on the Accord platform were simply line extenders-two-door variants of monster-selling family sedans. Sure, with an added wing, upsized 15-inch alloys, and a five-speed manual transmission, they appeared a bit sportier. But with a maximum of only 120 horsepower available from the "big-block" 2.0-liter four-cylinder, the Honda Accord Coupe was clearly more poseur than racer. A peppy alternative to the family sedan? Absolutely. But a real sport coupe? Never in a million years.
Well, make that 20.

My Monte(s) may not beat one in a straight line race, but it beats the pants off any of them in: looks, styling, appeal, and as so many have pointed out numbers made.
They aren't making them any more guys n gals. [sm=boosign.gif]

13.75 is friggin quick for a stock 3.8 NA. SOB can still add a power booster.

Hi `Dan,
The Eclipse GT test by Motor Trend had
it @ 0 - 60 MPH in 5.8 Seconds
and the 1/4 in 14.3 sec @ 100.6 mph
I was surprised when I drove my friends GT, &
it was really `fun shift'in a six speed : )
& hear'in his 3.8 w/CAI suck'in `air +
the manaflow Exh Syst play'ed great tunes : )
It was a bonus in `life 4 me : )
I luv `Driv'in : ) & it's so much better when
it's a V-8 Chevy SS
I still would choose a Monte Carlo SS over one,
but it's a neat pkg., & I love the Fosgate 650
Sound System : )
