I believe it is similar. I know a lot of the componenets are the same, but like TMM said, there are some slight differences.

the malibu frame is shorter. i doubt that year one would have one, but if they did it would probably silly expensive. to the point that i would just get a car with a good frame and body. i say this after spending $1,000 on 2 full length quarters that are sitting in my house that i will probably never use. at least theyre actually gm quarters and are probably the only ones on earth. its just cheaper and easier to swap my drivetrain in to a better body then to battle it out with frame and body work when theres 4 billion gbodys out there.

You should be able to take pieces from any Cutlass, Regal, or Pontiac G-body and section in where you frame is rotten.

H--l even a 1980s Caprice should have similar bends and twists in the frame and any decent fabricator should be able to section in your frame.

According the GM the 1978-88 Montes have the same frame. They say (and others have confirmed) you can remove the doors off a 1988 Monte and use them on the 1980 Monte body. Even the full front clip. I never believed it till someone did exactly that and posted pics of their work. Beside body pieces the 1978-88 Montes share power trains and suspension parts too.

I don't recall the members name? By I'm sure he joined the site and MonteCarloSS.com and posted pics of his car here and on there. I remember Space commenting on his work.
