Do different brands of gas really differ in performance and efficiency? I thought they're all the same, it's the octane that's different. I use whatever gas station is near me at the time, but it's usually a Marathon gas station, very conveniently located on my commute to work. I've never noticed an increase or decrease in mileage or performance from any brand of gas, they all act the same as far as I can tell.

I have been told that all gas is the same as it goes through the same pipelines, the only differences are the additives. Also some ma and pa stores or convience stores get a price break for buying older gas, old gas=Bad.

I'd only buy gas from a convenience store as a last resort.

BP, Shell, Getty, Sunoco or Hess... whatever is the lowest priced in the area. I really haven't noticed any difference in performance between the brands. My Monte runs just fine on 87 octane.

i use to use conoco or quiktrip all the time whenever i lived up in missouri. there is a shell gas station down the street from me but over where i live its ten cents more expensive then down by my school. i'm just kinda experimenting right now until i can find the right place down here.
