brake pads 2003 Monte carlo ss
Hi everyone. New guy here. Just wanted any opinion on replacing factory front/rear disc pads. Whats the best for low/no dust and resonable wear. I'm not sure if oem are ceramic or semi-metallic. Any thoughts welcome. Thanks in advance!~

I always go for ceramic pads. They have the lowest dust from any pad I have run.The only downfall that I have had with them. When you first put them on they arent that good untilafter a few stops.

I recommend going to www.tirerack.com and reading reviews there on brakes (i know its a tire site, but they have brakes, tires, wheels, suspension parts...)
I personally choose the Akebono Street Performance pad. It's a new one in the line up, not many reviews yet, but they are great. I had warped my front rotors on my 2003 Monte Carlo SS and decided not to go with teh stock brakes as I had heard they were not of good quality. I opted to go with Auto Zone Duralast rotors and a set of Akebono pads. All of htere other product reviews were good so I went with the new product which was supposed to be a bit better. I'm glad I did!! They stop a little bit better than my old brakes, are very quiet (atleast I haven't heard a peep from them), and my stock rear brakes actually dust worse than my fronts!! I am very glad I choose these brakes and I think you would be too.
However, $104.65 with shipping may be a little more than your willing to pay, but I'd definitly go with ceramics if I were you.

Only 1 choice in my mind. I just did a brake job and replace the pads with 3/16 life left in all 8 pads. 115,000 miles, 4 years, 2 cars. They were originally on my 01 SS LE.
Hawk HPS pads and Powerslot rotors. The slots help keep the pads cool and clean.
