What does it mean to have a "f body" or "g body" or "w body" or any other body?

 

i honestly wish i knew the same, i think most newer monte carlos are w-body? good question by the way! i've always wanted to ask that but never did, thanks

oh ok... I guess I kinda see what you mean. I sometimes wish I was going into the Automotive field. So i would know all this stuff.

 

Chassis type:

Fbody=camaro/firebird
wbody=MC, GP, bonnie
gbody=GA
Nbody=Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, Halle Berry

A body or platform is just the underlying chassis that they use to build various cars. So when you see various cars on the same platform (for example, an impala, regal, monte carlo, lumina, grand prix, etc all being a "W body")- it just means that the underpinnings of the vehicle are virtually identical, they just have different styling, emblems, and options.
