Bad ground?

Well I just went to start my car and now I'm having a slight problem. Turned the key, solenoid clicked, starter didn't engage and I lost all power. I had to reconnect the battery to get power back and still had the same problem. I'm guessing I've got a bad ground but I don't have the slightest clue as to where to start checking... Any suggestions?

Check/Clean the positive terminal at the battery and at the solenoid on the starter. Check/Clean the negative terminal at the battery and where it is connected to the stud on the (front lower left) on the transaxle. Have the battery tested. Also have the output of the alternator tested.
