at the bottom of the shifter handle where the boot begins there is a prong that holds the handle in place. use a needle nose plyers to pull it out and the **** comes right off. of course like the discussions are talking about is how to attach one that doesnt screw on. and i have never had luck with universal ones that tighten with screws. the one that montyss02 has pictured is one that also came up in a search of ***** that work for our cars. looks pretty good id say. wut i want is the leather wrapped shifter that the bonneville's came with and i cant find one out there!

I got the MOMO silver shifter and it looks pretty good, although on second thought the blk/sil would have probably looked better. I've got to do a few more things to the interior anyway so maybe it'll look even better then.

I'll have to look at the Camaro's shifter ****... would rather have that, more sporty then the Monte shifter and since it's GM I would think that it would fit fine, only problem may be the Camaro doesn't have a boot over the shifter... thoughts?

I believe it should fit! You may have to modify it a little bit, depending on how the shifter attaches to the shifter base.

No, I have a 95 Z28. The **** is more like a traditional manual except the button on top. Sorry for not pointing out the year.

but there is no button for the shift lock... is there a way i can bypass the lock and just put this shifter on there somehow?
Read on a Camaro BB that someone bought a kit @ PepBoys that allowed him to use a manual ****. He said that with the kit he had to push down on the **** in order to shift. I looked for the thread again and I can't find it to link to... sorry. But perhaps if you go to a Pep Boys and ask they might have one.

Pulled the shifter **** off of my Z28 this weekend. Not sure about the results... The boot attaches to the bottom of th estock **** so I'm not real sure what to do with it... but the brushed aluminum does look kind of sharp IMO
