so i have an 1987 SS with the 5.0L v8 305 my friend has a 97 firebird v6 both all stock except i have an aftermarket exhaust and he has a true posi rear. he has been saying he can smoke me for the longest time and idk his car definatly has power i believe he has 20-30hp more than me and his car weighs alot less but what are your opinions on who would win in a quarter mile and dont be biased because we all love montes here

 

I'd probably have to say the firebird would have you.

so true were going to head up to pocono raceway when we both get our licenses cuz we only have permits for now but its going to be fun for sure but if i lose he will never let it down which will be annoying well be like 80 and if i say monte carlo hed be like fireibird is better

Is his Firebird a 5speed? If it is, and he really knows how to drive it, then i'd have to say he might beat you...but it will be close either way.

If he keeps saying Firebird is better, tell him I along with Mike (Chibi) will race him and show him what a Monte Can do...

Also, if his is all stock, how does he have 20HP on you? I THOUGHT the 87SS Monte 5.0L V8 made 205HP stock. And the 97 Camaro/Firebird 3.8L V6 made 200HP. But you would have a more torque with the 5.0L V8 then his 3.8L...So I really don't know, it would be a close race.

I know for a fact though that my 3500 V6 Monte will take him. Why? Maybe cause i've tried it...LOL It was a 99 Camaro 3.8L Automatic. I can't say I smoked him, because it was practically neck and neck...but i'll take a bumper length after 70MPH as a win...LOL
