A friend of mine in high school made a convertible out of a Saturn Ion... she drove it under a log truck. How she got out with only a few cuts is amazing to me. This is probably a better alternative.

That looks surprisingly natural. I've never really seen a 6th gen convertible before. That's pretty cool.

Pictures of the Monte Carlo Convertibles

Emeott salvaged the convertible top from a junker 1968 Chevelle and had it re-covered in black cloth. The top folds up with little more than the flip of a couple latches and the push of a button. Don't be fooled; Chevrolet never made a Monte Carlo convertible in any year. Emeott's craftmanship could make an unknowing onlooker think otherwise. Emeott said he's never tried to persuade anyone it's a real factory convertible, but GM made the paperwork to back up the lie if he did. The first edition 1970 Monte Carlo owner's manual has a page outlining how to open a convertible top. Looks like the idea was there, but never made it to reality. Another page in the owner's manual lists the location of the convertible top switch! Emeott says he's not much of an engine detailer, but he keeps his torquey 468ci rat plenty clean. Vic Edelbrock Jr. signed the air cleaner on the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour this year.
The all-leather interior keeps Emeott comfy on long hauls. The door panels and window switches are custom and the stock shifter was modified to work with the 700R4. Personalized license plates tell the story. Emeott dropped the big car with springs alone. It's no corner-carver, but it handles better than stock. The big-and-little tire combo add to the Monte's mean stance.
