Default 5th Gen Broke down :(

I've had my 5TH gen for a little over a week now, and it's been running just fine...until I was going to class thursday.
It ran just fine all day, all 45 min to class doing 75mph on the highway with no problems...until I was pulling out of an intersection, and after I got through and started accelerating, the engine stalled. I pulled into Sonic, and lost power steering and brakes.
Once I got it parked with the e-brake on, I turned the car completely off...turned off the AC, and started the car up again. Once it started, it began to shake pretty bad and then stalled again. I called my dad and told him to pick me up after class.
So when class was over 2 hours later, my dad came to look at the car and help me get it home...and when he drove it home..it ran just fine! No shaking, no problems at all.
So I drove it to church yesterday, and drove just fine the whole way there. I came out after service was over, try to start the car up, and once agian, it's having problems.
It will fire up, but as soon as the tachometer gets up to 1500rpm, the engine just dies.
This is SO annoying! My dad looked at it, and said that it may have something to do with the fuel pump? It only started doing this after it went under 1/2 a tank of gas. I can't take it in to the mechanic until tuesday so the poor car is just sitting in the church parking lot...all depressing looking..

I hope the car is in a safe area. I know guys who've let their car set where it broke and when they came back parts were missing. Or........... the whole car was.

It really sounds like the fuel pump went out on it.

With the MIL on, you should be able to have the stored codes read. This will give you an excellent starting point for fixing your ride. Advance or Autozone will do it for free. I have my own scanner/data logger that paid for itself with the first use. I hope you get her running again. Good luck.

For sure...It's in a very safe area, and people have been leaving their cars there for a night or two for a long time and they've never had problems
Still makes me nervouse though..lol

Miller, thanks for the advise! I'll see about getting that done before I take it in tomorrow

The only problem I see with having the car scanned is that it's a 95 Monte. So it's not OBDII and it's not quite OBDI. I can't remember right off the top of my head how you get the codes from a 95 Monte, but it's probably similar to getting the codes off of an OBDI vehicle.

Put a paperclip between port A and B and turn the ignition switch to RUN. Dont turn on the car, just till you see all the lights on the dash light up. It will then flash a code 12 ( one blink then followed by 2 blinks ).Then read how many times the SEL light blinks after that..

Example:

For a code 32, It will first blink 3 times then a short pause then blink 2 times. It will repeat it 3 times then move on to the next code.
