hey all, long story short i got this 86 Monte Carlo LS 305 for $900. The owner couldnt get it to run right. So i fixed/re ran all vacuume lines, rebuilt carb. New tranny lines and long tube headers now it runs/sounds great but it has to be cammed any thoughts??

 

what rpm does idle at in gear. anything above 900 it's cammed a littlt also no power brakes on stopping real quick is another sign. i'd pull the valve covers and see if the cam doesn't have any flat lobes as what it sounds like to me.

 

Sounds good but I don't think it has a big cam..

 

yea power breaks are not so good, like its not getting enough vacuum. it idles in gear around 850. also noticed it pulls harder over 5k rpms but feels weak on the low end.

 

also i have had a 85 monte carlo SS with the L69 this one is not the L69 its the low end 305 but it is hands down faster the my SS was even with the eco gears it has

 

Does not sound like it has an aftermarket cam. If it does, it's pretty much stock.
