If you’re in the market for some red hot metal that’ll drop jaws and max score sheets, this rock-solid Chevy is your ticket! Not long after this low mileage 454 SS one-and-only owner purchased it new, he entered a small Tennessee car show and walked away with impressive second place honors. Eventually that owner, a long-time car guy, decided to get much more serious about showing his beloved truck and executed a five year build which transformed a production line rarity into a magazine featured marvel. Today, ‘Bad Apple’s square, dent-free panels present laser-straight gaps which are narrow and exact. Its custom pieces blend seamlessly with its solid factory body. And its original GM code 74 Victory Red basecoat/clearcoat looks rich and glossy thanks to a thorough cut, a professional polish and years of spectacular maintenance. Pop the hood on this red bowtie masterpiece and you’ll find an original 454 cubic inch GEN V V8 which creates a stout 255 horsepower and a whopping 405 lb./ft. of torque! Behind the brawny big block, an original 4L80E 4-speed automatic transmission sends power through a chrome driveshaft to a rugged locking differential that’s complete with factory 4.10 gears. Dropped four inches in the front and six inches in the rear by high performance Belltech lowering components, this buff pickup features a buckled down stance that perfectly complements its sporty engine and killer good looks. And power flows through awesome 20 inch polished Billet Specialties wheels to sticky 245/40 front and 295/40 rear BF Goodrich Comp T/A radials. Inside the truck, GM’s standard Garnet Red cockpit has been exchanged for a light and airy Bone environment which was installed by well-known hot rod enthusiast Paul Atkins. If you’re looking for a purpose-built show stopper that’ll draw crowds and win trophies, this big block Chevy is you’re kind of hot rod!

Ready to own the baddest truck on your block? Take a closer look at this awesome 650hp supercharged 1991 454 SS. Repainted in a glossy coat of Onyx Black, the truck cast mirror-like reflections from all angles. The body is laser straight and all factory body molding and decals were left in place. A cowl hood, factory aero mirrors and an aftermarket roll pan give the truck a clean muscular look while red and gray pinstriping do a great job at breaking up all that black paint. Under the hood, the stock 454 was torn down and completely rebuilt by Terry Walters Precision Engines who added components like a 270-276 Comp cam, roller rockers and a new intake manifold for the revised fuel injection system. Once the engine was buttoned up, an intercooled ProCharger system was added for some extra power. Ignited by an updated ignition with Taylor wires, the engine starts immediately and sounds awesome through Edelbrock headers and Flowmaster mufflers. Underneath the truck, a Bowtie Overdrives 4L80E handles gear selection while a 14-bolt differential packed with 4.11 gears puts that power to the ground in a hurry. The truck has been lowered 3" all the way around and features a custom 2-link with coilovers out back. A quick ratio steering box and power disc/drum brakes greatly enhance the driving experience. At the corners, 15-inch Halibrands wrapped in BFG rubber connect the truck to the road. Between the doors, the clean factory interior remains comfortable thanks to high-back bucket seats, air conditioning, a premium stereo, power windows and power lock.
