Windows up please, I don't want wind noise to muffle the engine roaring.

ok, totally off the wall here but i need to ask this, i can't hear my exhaust at all when the windows are down! but when windows are up it sounds pretty good inside! question is, is the sound i hear inside actually the sound outside of the car? don't beat on me to bad, just let me know, thanks this only the second car that i've had with dual exhaust (not true dual), the last was a 74 nova with headers and true dual exhaust!! let me know, without the beat down!! thanks

I'd think the reason you probably can't hear the engine so much when you're driving with windows down is because you're constantly in motion, the sound is always behind you, not to mention the wind sweeping through through the windows rushes past your ears and will greatly reduce how much you can hear. The dual exhaust setup is just a Y pipe, just for looks really. There's almost no difference between a single pipe exhaust and Y pipe in terms of sound or power, it's just for looks mostly.

Chris, as Quatermain said, its probably from the wind that you don't hear it. I'm guessing with the windows up, you are hearing a little exhaust note, and the actual engine...the wind just covers that up. My guess it that you have stock mufflers if you can't hear it with the windows down. Because with my Magnaflows, you can can hear the exhaust even with the windows down.

i agree that its probably the wind. what you hear with the windows up is probably a little interior resonance. and i hear mine either way. but then again im not running any mufflers on it.
