How much is it to fix the intermediate steering shaft?.

you can fix it with some gun oil and 5 minutes.

I had the clunk and it just needs some lubrication. Been fine for a year now.

here's another thing to check, if you look down between the radiator and the motor there are 2 rubber lines with aluminum fitting tubes connecting on the tranny to the radiator area. not sure what's the name of the rubber hoses is call (transmission oil line??) but they are common to leak. in the pic you can see one of the line looks newer than the other, cuz had to replaced that line. cost $125 for one at the dealer. here's pic for you to get an idea which line i'm talking about.

Welcome to the site! My 05 was just involved in a stupid fender bender in a parking lot - about $3600 damage to my Monte. It sucks that now it's going to have a black mark on the car fax. But unfortunately the Carfax doesn't list the severity of the accident. My car is going to be better than when I bought it used because it's getting all new OEM right front fender, hood and front bumper. It didn't have any frame damage because it wasn't hit that hard.

I would start asking the owner some questions about the info you found out on the Carfax.

I just got done talking to her about the accident. She said her and her ex-husband were driving and they got into some loose gravel on the side of the road and the car went off the road and ended up in a field. She said that the bumper cover was replaced and there was some minor damage to the passenger door that was fixed and then the damage areas were repainted. She said the oil was changed every 3,000 miles or less and that all maintenace was done. She did say the instrument cluster had been replaced because the speedometer quit working.

So, would you guys still buy the car or not?

It sounds like they took care of it so I think it would be a good buy.

Guys,
Thanks for the replies. I'm going to look at it again on Monday after work and look it over good, especially underneath it. Monday is also the earliest I can get the money. I'll let you know what happens.
