A 2000 Monte Carlo SS Pace Car and my Dad
It seems my father (who will be 72 in October,) has decided that he wants to join the Monte Carlo community. After riding in and/or driving my '03 SS he has been bitten by the bug and sent me on a concerted search for a nice car. As fate would have it, one week into my search I found a very clean and documented example of a '00 pace car (#47 of 2,222). As of this writing, I've been to the owner twice and am taking Dad too see it tomorrow. The owner of the pace car is interested in trading title-for-title for Dad's '03 Silverado LS Extended-Cab (4.8 Liter V-8). Talk about sailing under a lucky star!
Dad has always owned some pretty nice hot-rods from two 1971 Camaro RS', a '79 Corvette, two '80 Corvettes and a '58 Corvette to name a few. Now he's wanting something with four seats, good handling and performance with good fuel milage. Well, As we all know, our Monte Carlos fit that bill to a tee!
I hope by this time tomorrow I can tell the MCF members that we have a new owner and member. Keep those collective fingers crossed for a deal to be stuck!!! Thanks everyone!!!

That's a heart warming story.. Hope there is a shiny New Monte in the driveway tomorrow... My dad is 80 and I almost left him the Monte when I got moved out west to BC... He also loved the car, not sure he would have become a member as he does not own or want to own a laptop... lol... Good luck,

Ok campers, here's the deal as of today. It turns out that my Dad and the owner of the car in question know each other from over forty years ago when they both worked for Texaco. After chewing the fat and rehashing old times and memories, they got down to business. It appears that they're going to trade titles and a small amount of cash on Dad's part and the deal will be sealed sometime after the 4th. The owner was pretty adamant about the car going to a good home and he was happy with our pedigree with respect to collectable cars as he too is a car guy!
As soon as he takes delivery of the pace car I plan on doing a full-on detail on it just like I do before I show mine. Rest assured that there WILL BE phots posted of both our cars together as well as Dad's as a stand-alone shoot. Until next time...
