one other thing to check is the upper and lower intake if it has the 3.4L in it. if it has the 3.8L look at the valve cover gaskets. when i worked at a shop i saw these leaks alot.

The check engine light is most likly a oxygen sensor, @ least thats what mine (Proud 1998 Chevy Monte Carlo - Owner) is and i have just about the same milage. Even tho it may seem like alot of miles my still has plenty of power plus some.

That's a hell of a lot nicer than what my 98 LS was when I got it and mine was 1800! Had 127,000 when I got it. 142 now.

not necessarily, wen i sold my 89 Cavy base model i refused to let it b driven far with out tags or insurance unless it was paid for and title signed over b/c,,,,,what happens to me if the car gets wrecked while shes taking it to a shop? i dont wana get screwed over! lol so i can understand that!

I own a 1999 MonteCarlo Z-34 that i ordered factory direct in 1998...paid cash for it.
It was built in Canada and was the first 99 montecarlo Z-34 in the states...

Its triple black, fully loaded, with all the bells and whistles! I added a full body kit to it. front rear sides and rear spoiler. Then limo tinted out all the windows, even the front window is tinted 35% ! with the typical eye brow on the front windsheild....

Added custom wheels, Changed out the dual exhaust with magnaflow duels and bowtie Chrome tips...

Then had Custom Hand painted graphix added down the sides.....includeing personal initials aded....Removed front grill and bowtie, replaced it with a billet grill. what a difference! Have had it in several car shows, won many 1st place trophys with it. even had it in the international hotrod show here in detroit!
Its now a daily driver with over 154,000 miles on it! replaced trans about 10,000 miles ago...It gets oil changed every 3000 miles or 3 months religiously since it was new. every year fluid filter changes on trans. Regular maintenance on brakes tires etc....and replaced the upper intake at about 110,000...the car runs flawless! starts every frickn time !!! replaced battery at 80,000 miles (no biggie)....I love my MonteCarlo !!!! so, if u want something dependable, classy, gutsy, and excellent fuel mileage..then the 99 monte Carlo 34 is for you !!! will add a pic soon....This one is a real head turner withall the things i have added to it....Some people dont even know its a Monte Carlo let alone a Z34 ! all the emblems are blacked out !! from the factory (the way i ordered it)....Oh 1 other thing I had custom hand painted on the rear bumper.... The Full Monte !!!! and believe u me it is !!!!!
