Default 1996 Monty LS

Hello I am new here and I have just purchased a 1996 Monte Carlo LS and was wondering if anyone here knows of any problems or possible things to keep an eye on as far as maintenance goes? The car is very clean and seems to be very well taken care of. Thanks for any advice in advance.

Pete

Check for intake leaks. The 3.1s are prone to them.

Will do, thanks for the info. I also am wondering about adding RCA jacks to the factory stereo to play my mp3 player. If this is in the wrong area could someone let me know where I could find information on how to accomplish this. I did notice that there is an aux button on the radio. Thanks againfor your advice.I looked around for awhile and this seems to be the best site for information on Monte Carlos.

Welcome Pete!

You are the proud owner of one of the most under-appreciated generations of Monte Carlo.
The 96-99 years are more commonly known on most Monte Carlo forums as 5th generation.

The 5th gen's are good car. We have a lot of members with 96-99 Monte's, but because of the Easter weekend, most members are not online.

But your question about your mp3 player is a good one. I think members like couch (chad) or scc24540 (chris) and some of the other 5th gen owners, may have the answers you need.

Good luck. I know I was wondering about connecting my mp3 player into my factory stereo in my 2004. Only to find out I'm outta luck, unless I change my stereo. Hopefully you'll have better luck.

Oh yeah...

You may have better luck posing the stereo question in the section named "Audio/Visual Electronics".

One more thing, since I just did it myself just now. Don't be surprised if you see a word that looks like this: ****le

This is actually the word spelled t-i-t-l-e. The site has an auto-sensor that automatically sensors certain words. The first three letters in t-i-t-l-e trigger the sensor. Yeah, it's annoying. Nothing the moderators can do about it though. Sorry.
