Default 1970 monte carlo left fron fender

as all you may know i got the 07 lt monte, but i also have a 1970 monte carlo that i inherited when my mom passed away 5 years ago. some history on it. my grandpa bought the car brand new in november 1969 in northern california drove all the way from iowa to buy it then drove it all the way back lol. he put 24,000 miles on it from late 69 until early 1978, then he put it in storage. he ended up passing away in 1990 2 mths after i was born, in his will he left it to my mom. it sat in the storage facility until late 1998 when my mom decided to pull it out to show it to a guy that was interested in it. he looked it over, and liked it but my mom didnt want to part with it so we kept it. so we started the process of fixing it up. we put a high quality new paint job on it, new vinyl top, turbo muffler exhaust, tune up, new fluids all around, and it ran like a top. back to today it has 28,717 miles, but the left front fender has some minor minor rust issues. there must of been a small rust hole on the bottom part of the fender that was patched up in some manner, and now its starting to show through again. my conundrum is, i wanna get this fixed right and permanently which means getting a new fender. problem is i cannot find a fender for it anywhere to save my life. this isnt counting used front fenders. i will only go new or n.o.s fenders. does anybody have some good concrete sites that sell them? most of the sites ive seen sell patches, which is a no-no for me. like i said this isnt a issue that needs fixed right now, the amount of driving i do with it now, it prolly wouldnt be an issue until 7-8 years down the road. im just kinda starting to look around. i will post photos of the ride in the next post. this post is too long already lol

I have a 1970 MC that I have had for 25 years. None of my catalogs for these cars show a new fender available for sale, just patch panels like you have discovered. I would not hesitate to use a patch panel. Unless you can find a new OEM fender somewhere, which I doubt, any other new fender you may find will be an aftermarket one and will not be as good quality as your original fender.

The body on my car was redone in 1993 and they patched the bottoms of my front fenders and they are still fine today, almost twenty years later.

I personally would want to keep as much of the original sheetmetal intact as possible.

the funny thing is, that particular spot on the left front fender is the only rust on the entire thing. and its not like its a rust hole, the metal behind it is still solid, its just some pinhead sized surface bubbles

That is one sweet car. I would get the rust fixed so it doesn't spread but it would take awhile to do that since you have it garaged and probably don't drive it in bad weather.

I love the first generation Monte Carlo's. I wish mine was still all original. You have a very nice car that lucky for you, has been in your family it's entire life. That is very unusual these days. Take care.
