Default 12 bolt rear end

Hello everyone I have 2 questions to ask . I have a 1973 monte carlo, im wondering if a 12 bolt rear end from a 1970 chevelle ss will fit and im looking to raise the rear end 2 inches, I can't find aftermarket coil springs that are priced reasonably. What other GM vehicles have a taller spring height that can be installed in my '73. Thanks in advance monteman73

I cannot say regarding the rear axle assembly from a 1970 Chevelle. Just curious, what's your endgame with your car? What's your goal? Trailer queen show car? Daily driver? Weekend ¼-mile sprinter? Demolition derby? Just wondering why go with something other than stock. My 1974 Monte Carlo has the stock 10-bolt with posi and it's been solid & reliable for more than ½-million miles.

As for the springs, some 30-years ago, I had pick-up truck springs installed in my '74 which gives it a slight rake…

Unfortunately I don't recall any details of which model Chevy truck they came from. You see, I had asked the guy at the shop to maybe try springs from a station wagon so I could have more load capacity. For whatever reason that I forgot long ago, that didn't work but the truck springs did. The drawback is it changed the ride characteristics of the car. The front still has that nice "floaty" feel but the rear feels over-sprung. That's the name of the game; compromise.
