Got to see that Monster on your car :) Nice work.

zzapultimate 05-17-2012 06:08 PM

That looks sweet! Is that fiberglass bonded to sheet metal?

ZIPPY02 05-17-2012 06:12 PM

Now that ought to help get rid of the under hood heat. Looks like a real labor of love there. Going to be one up for sure, nice job...

BlackRainSS 05-17-2012 08:12 PM

Nice job man! Should look beastly on the Turbo Monte!

turbo monte 05-17-2012 08:24 PM

Cool. I've been thinking of doing this, but I've heard that it will just crack. Apparently there is a bonding issue between steel and fiberglass, as the hood wants to flex some and cracks the body filler at the seem between fiberglass and steel. Hopefully that doesn't happen to you though

turbo monte 05-17-2012 09:00 PM

I am told the glue that we used it a metal to fiberglass fuser that will not crack at all. Its the fuser they use to repair vettes and other cars that mold glass to metal. We shall see lol.

lougreen03 05-17-2012 09:33 PM

My buddy had a car with a scoop molded onto the hood and it kept cracking in one spot so he put a vinyl stripe on it. Just dont slam the hood down hard. I cant wait to see it painted.

Looks good! I have future plans for a cowl induction hood, but I'm going with a lower profile (2.5") steel scoop so I can have it welded to the hood and not have to worry about cracking. ;)

I like this idea. Where do you get the steel scoop?

The one I've been eyeballin' is made by Goodmark, but there may be other companies that also make them.

the fuser adhesive we used is suppose to never crack. the body guy told me he used it on another customers car to mold a scoop on and it never cracked. that guy even hit a deer and it broke the front of the scoop and curled the hood but the back side still didnt crack where it was molded. so i feel pretty confident knowing that lol. time will tell is all

thanks! yea i seen the pics of the hood you guys are trying to get made, its the same concept but the details of mine vs what you are trying to get made is way different lol. the only thing it is missing is a piece of blue mesh that will go inside the little air dam.

Looks Nice..

Mr Grizzly Mint 05-20-2012 10:07 PM

no i had the work done by a guy i know pretty well. the scoop was an ebay buy :rotfl: bought a junk yard hood, cut the arch in the scoop so it layed flat with the contour in the hood cut out the functional parts, cut tin to fit the underside of the hood and welded it in, filled all holes, smoothed out underside, molded scoop on and smoothed it out, then painted everything..... very time consuming :rotfl:

turbo monte 06-10-2012 09:16 AM

That cowl hood rocks! The outside is as wicked as the power you're putting out in this monster for sure. Do you have more exterior mods in the works?
